María Eugenia Girón (Megadvice & Megamcapital
partner and founder) shared this Tuesday evening her broad experience in career shifts and entrepreneurship with
us and the secrets of how to combine your dreams and the rest of pieces of your
life such as family, friends or hobbies.

She has stressed the importance of two main pillars
she has followed during her professional life:

  • Introspection: Learn to know ourselves, our strongness and weaknesses,
and what is more important: Learn from the mistakes in our lifes.
  •  Following our dream, create
    our vision
: it is really important to identify our dream, as this will be a
source of energy to work in what inspires us or what amuses us. Once we have
our dream, we should bring it into practice, therefore, we need an action plan, only then we will have our
    vision.

Maria Eugenia taught us that if we challenge ourselves, if we work hard
for achieving anything that we want, the result can be even better than
expected. She suffered a career evolution in the process of finding what her
dream was: she studied engineering, worked in business, changed the sector
(from business to luxury working for Loewe), and has developed several
enterpreneurial projects in luxury (from manager and investor to advisor). What
made her change? Knowing what she was capable to offer and combining this with
her interests and dreams. She highlighted the importance of working in
something we like, as it will help us to create the necesary energy for keep going on in the
difficult moments.

You will think: Engineer, financial analyst,
strategy, manager of Carrera Carrera, partner and now advisor in the luxury
sector! How did she manage to change to a sector in which she had no
expericence? The key word is contacts!
She joined clubs that would be of her interest and got in touch with people
that had the same motivations that she had. Networking can be a bridge that can facilitate our objectives, it
can give us the opportunity of knowing interesting people who may be able to
help us.

In every step of our careers we have to re-invent ourselves, re-learn and re-cycle as part of
the process of suffering evolutions in different departments or sectors.

How did she combine her personal and professional
life? She admits it is sometimes difficult, but she is always trying to adapt
both of them, even sometimes she has to be creative for finding a way to be
with her family. Regarding her hobbies, she always tries to work in what amuses
her, so that she really enjoys her work and finds it personally and
professionaly fulfilling.

Thanks Maria Eugenia for sharing your life with us
and thanks to the MET Program for organizing a conference with such an
interesting topic.!
