In this blog, usually I talk about women and innovation. Today, I'm also going to talk about innovation, but above all, on leadership by Francisco Gonzalez, BBVA President. This is because the IE Business School is pleased to announce the BBVA Business Case developed by the dean of this institution, Santiago Iñiguez De Onzoño.  

Last Thursday, Santiago Iñiguez de Onzoño in collaboration with Francisco González ( FG), had the opportunity to present the case in a conference in Expomanagement. The business case is focused on leadership, a leadership linked performance, said the dean.  In these case,  the dean describes FG as an innovator with entrepreneurial spirit and oriented to changes, and he also holds an excellent management of human resources. I appreciate his views on changes because it's  in line with my own ideas.

I will focus on some of these important issues: Values, innovation and human capital. The dean commented that these are the three pillars of BBVA. FG also emphasized that he is an enthusiast of technology and that he believes that technology is the motor of  changes in business. This is evidenced by the bank's investment of 5M Euros in technology in the next years. The challenges are in the combination between person and technology, argued FG, who also mentioned that in twenty years, nobody will go phisically to the bank because everybody will work with avatars.

FG dedicates a 50% of his time talking to his staff, exchanging ideas and listening to their opinions.  He also believes that to achieve success in a  company, you need to employ the best people. According to Fortune´s ranking about capturing talent., BBVA is the first bank in Spain, second in Europe, and listed on the 19^th position in the world.
